TUPELO – Elaine Hancock, a well-known philanthropist, was in North Mississippi Medical Center intensive care Monday after an accident on Saturday.
Hancock, the widow of Hancock Fabrics founder L.D. Hancock and a well-known businesswoman in Northeast Mississippi, was traveling from Harrisburg Baptist Church across Coley Road to the Natchez Trace when her car was struck by another vehicle. The driver of that car escaped without injuries.
According to Hancock’s granddaughter, Melanie Deas, Hancock suffered some broken bones, including a broken pelvis.
Hancock, who turns 90 at the end of February, is “in good spirits,” Deas said.
