MOOREVILLE – An elderly man who was involved in a weekend accident died Tuesday.

Luther Magers, 83, was injured Friday in a two-car accident Friday on Highway 78 near Mooreville.

His vehicle wasn't the only one involved in an apparent accident spree, authorities said.

The accident is still under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol, which has not released any details.

No charges have been filed against the man, believed to be involved in the three accidents, and the Highway Patrol will make that decision. Johnson said he's waiting on results from toxicology test conducted on the man's blood.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said questions are being asked about a man who'd been involved in two other car accidents just minutes before Magers' vehicle was struck.

“We got a call about a hit and run near Mooreville school Friday morning,” said Johnson. “While we were working that accident, we got another call a few minutes later about an accident near Skyline. And within a few minutes, we got a call about a bad accident on Highway 78 involving an elderly man.”
