PONTOTOC – Efforts to convert to electronically read water meters in the city’s water system have continued.
Recently, Regions bank said it will partner with the city in a lease purchase proposal to fund the $732,000 project.
Pontotoc Mayor Jeff Stafford said the city has been trying for almost three years to get a Mississippi Development Authority grant to fund a major portion of the water meter conversion project.
The city’s water system currently services about 3,000 outdated water meters.
“If we don’t get the grant money, we’ll bid the process out and see what funding options are available,” Stafford said.
