TUPELO – Fans can be one step closer to going to this year’s Tupelo Elvis Presley Festival, as tickets went on sale on Tuesday.
Package deals for both the Fairpark concerts on June 1 and 2 and the Elvis tribute artist concerts and competitions at The Lyric all went on sale at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The Fairpark tickets went on sale via Ticketmaster, while tickets for the Lyric events – which usually sell out – are on sale via the Downtown Tupelo Main Street office.
“We’ve had a very, very busy day,” said festival director Debbie Brangenberg. “So far we’ve had sales from 15 states and one foreign country.”
The Fairpark sales were a bit slower, thanks to a technical difficulty with Ticketmaster that Brangenberg said would be cleared up “very, very soon.”
Tickets for individual events and concerts will go on sale Feb. 15.
Country band Little Big Town will headline the Fairpark show on Saturday night, with Tupelo native and crowd-pleaser Paul Thorn headlining Friday night.
Over at The Lyric, the tribute artists are the stars, with the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist competition and concerts by past competition winners. Those shows are always the most popular, so Brangenberg said fans should get tickets early.
“They’re very popular tickets. People come from all over the country, and they want the best seats,” she said.
