Ex-Ecru officer to stand trial over traffic stops

ABERDEEN – A former Ecru police officer will stand trial Oct. 29 in Aberdeen on federal charges of taking money from people during traffic stops.
Jody Mac Rock, 34, of Pontotoc was indicted in late May and faces up to two years in prison, a $500,000 fine or both, if convicted.
Federal court documents say on two occasions Rock demanded money in lieu of writing a traffic citation.
The indictment states both persons were deprived of their constitutional right to be free of unreasonable search and seizure.
Rock has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
