ABERDEEN — A federal judge has sentenced the former executive director of the South Delta Regional Housing Authority to 32 months in prison.
The Delta Democrat Times reports Senior Judge Glen H. Davidson on Thursday sentenced 58-year-old Ann Jefferson and ordered her to pay more than $41,000 in restitution.
Jefferson will begin her sentence Sept. 10 at the minimum-security women’s Federal Correctional Institution in Greenville, Ill, near St. Louis, where her attorney says Jefferson has ill family members.
Jefferson was found guilty in March of embezzlement, obstruction of justice and witness intimidation. Prosecutors say Jefferson converted money from several housing authority accounts to her own use. She also was accused of retaliating against three people after she found out they had been cooperating with investigators looking into her alleged crimes.
