By NEMS Daily Journal

TUPELO – A grenade found at Goodwill on North Gloster Street in a box of donated clothes was probably put there by accident, according to police.
The grenade was not functional. It had been hollowed out and was filled to be used as a paperweight.
Police responded to a call about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Goodwill store on North Gloster Street of a possible grenade being in the drop box. Several Tupelo Police cars and the Tupelo Fire Department were on the scene, causing northbound traffic to back up for about a mile.
