NEW ALBANY – A Tupelo man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 78.
Adam L. Stegall, 21, was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro westbound near the downtown New Albany exit when his vehicle hydroplaned, said Union County Coroner Mark Golding.
“He lost control and skidded across the median,” Golding said. “A truck going eastbound hit him in the rear.”
The wreck occurred around 2:45 p.m., and Stegall was pronounced dead on the scene of head and chest trauma just after 3 p.m. Golding said Stegall was wearing a seatbelt.
Two passengers in the truck were transported to the hospital, and condition reports were not available late Wednesday. The New Albany police are investigating the wreck.
