OXFORD – Federal fugitive Wendell Blount is back in Mississippi, from the looks of U.S. District Court documents.
Blount of Calhoun County took off some six months ago while on house arrest as he awaited sentencing in the 2009 death of Dutch cyclist, Esther Hageman. Blount’s SUV struck her as she rode toward Jackson to visit with friends.
Last spring, a jury convicted him in her death.
Tuesday, Blount appeared in Oxford federal court before Magistrate Judge S. Allan Alexander. Wednesday, he waived a hearing set to consider revocation of his supervised release.
A few weeks ago, the U.S. Marshals caught Blount in Baton Rouge, La., where they say he had been aided by a friend as he hid out from authorities.
He still faces sentencing for Hageman’s death.
