The following people were arrested on felony charges during a 24-hour period ending at 5 p.m. April 8.

Tupelo City Jail

– David B. McEwen, 35, 201-A, Stewart Ave., Atlanta, was charged with simple assault on a police officer in the line of duty. The officer, who was responding to an accident call on McCullough Boulevard near the Belden Post Office, reported that the arrest came after he tried to get information from McEwen. The officer reported that McEwen ran from him then struck him during a struggle. Bond was set at $25,000.

– William Clifton Winders Jr., 35, Route 1 Box 1020A, Mooreville, was arrested April 2 and charged with burglary of a residential building. Bond was set at $5,000 and a preliminary hearing was set for July 1.

– Eddie Clay, 29, 429 Tolbert Street, Tupelo, was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with one count of possession of crack cocaine by the Tupelo Police Department and the K-9 unit. Clay was arrested at a Tupelo motel. No bond had been set Monday.

Lee County Jail

No felony arrests were reported Monday.
