BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) — St. Stanislaus High School has hired Gabe Fertita as its new head football coach.

Fertita comes to the Bay St. Louis school from Itawamba Community College, where he was the Indians’ offensive coordinator.

Fertita replaces Forrest Williams, who resigned earlier this year to become the head coach at Madison-Ridgeland Academy.

Fertita graduated from Holy Cross High School in New Orleans in 2000 and was an assistant football and track and field coach at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge from 2007 until 2010.

Fertita played college football at Mississippi College.

St. Stanislaus won the Class 4A state championship in 2009, and Williams compiled a 31-8 record in three seasons with the team.
