Fights at Saltillo High lead to extra security

SALTILLO – Police were on the Saltillo High School campus Friday as a precautionary measure in response to a fight at the school earlier this week.
Lee County Superintendent Mike Scott said police were called to the school because there were rumors of weapons. No weapons were found.
“What they were, were rumors,” Scott said.
Scott said that three students were removed from campus on Wednesday because of a fight at the school. He said that the administration at Saltillo High School and the Saltillo Police Department provided extra security at the school on Thursday and Friday to make sure peace was maintained.
Saltillo Police Chief Steve Brooks said that two students got into a fight Friday morning, possibly stemming from Wednesday’s incident.
