Firefighter training facility to be built at Amory industrial park

AMORY – The Amory Fire Department got the go-ahead Tuesday night to proceed with development of a training center in the city limits for its firefighters.
It will be located on city-owned property in city’s industrial park on Waterway Drive. Plans call for construction of a concrete block building, a site for a vehicle to be used to practice extrication procedures, a simulated roof for training and an area for CPAT drills and a parking area.
The entire cost of the training facility will be paid with state Fire Protection rebate funds and the city can do some of the construction to save money.
