By The Associated Press

COLUMBUS — Columbus Air Force Base plans a Fourth of July fireworks show after a four-year hiatus.

Col. Jim Sears, commander of the 14th Flying Training Wing, tells the Commercial Dispatch the show will take place over the John C. Stennis Lock and Dam.

The celebration is a joint venture of the Air Force base, the Columbus-Lowndes Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Army Corps of Engineers, Lowndes County and the city of Columbus.

Plans are being developed for the show. Children’s activities, along with live entertainment, will begin around 4 p.m., and the fireworks will begin about 30 minutes after the sun sets.
