MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Authorities in Memphis say emergency volunteers have recovered the body of a fisherman who disappeared in a Mississippi River inlet in Shelby Forest.
The Commercial Appeal reports that the body of 25-year-old Alberto Servin of Millington was found with the help of search dogs Sunday morning.
Servin was with relatives and a friend when he walked onto a sandbar in the inlet Saturday evening to fish. Shelby County sheriff’s office spokesman Steve Shular says when the others began to walk back, Servin started to swim to shore. About halfway across the inlet, Servin hollered, then disappeared. He never surfaced.
Search teams worked until late Saturday and resumed their search Sunday morning.
