At 12:44 p.m., the National Weather Service in Memphis issued a flash flood warning for portions of several counties, including two – Lafayette and Calhoun – in Northeast Mississippi, effective until 3:45 p.m.
“Doppler Radar estimates 2 to 4 inches of rainfall has occurred over the past hour,” said a NWS broadcast statement. “Showers and thunderstorms will produce an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain over the next hour.”
NWS reminds drivers not to drive anywhere that water covers the roadway, as the water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.
“Turn around; don’t drown.”
