Flood plain maps presented to residents

BOONEVILLE – Few changes were made to the Prentiss County flood plain maps that were offered for public inspection and presented to county officials last week, said Chancery Clerk David Pounds.
Only a handful of individuals attended the open house to look at the maps, which are being reviewed by each supervisor for their feedback to the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, Pounds said.
The county does not have a flood plain manager in place and has not adopted a flood plain ordinance as yet, but Pounds said supervisors are evaluating those issues as they review the maps.
