Former bank employee sentenced in embezzlement case

OXFORD – Deborah Shaw, 53, of Waterford, a former employee of Merchants and Farmers Bank in Holly Springs, was sentenced Tuesday to 30 months in prison by U.S. Senior District Judge Neal B. Biggers Jr.,
Last fall, Shaw pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement by a bank employee.
Biggers ordered Shaw to serve 30 months in prison, followed by 5 years supervised release. She also was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $327,842.00.
Shaw was ordered to report to prison June 17. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons will determine the facility to receive her.
This case was investigated by the Office of Inspector General for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by assistant United States attorneys Robert J. Mims and Clayton A. Dabbs.
