RIPLEY – A Miss Tippah County winner and Miss Mississippi contestant is vying for the chance to be crowned “Miss Healthy” on the “Dr. Oz Show.”
Cathea Simelton, Miss Tippah County 1994, was featured on the show Thursday and has at least two more appearances. Show times can be found at www.doctoroz.com/find-station.
The popular daytime talk show on NBC stars Dr. Mehmet Oz, and the show focuses on health issues.
The “Miss Healthy” competition features two other contestants who are former beauty queens and pageant contestants, and the trio are competing to see who can lose the most weight.
Simelton, a 1994 graduate of Ripley High School, earned a master’s degree in food and nutritional science from Alabama’s Tuskegee University.
“This has been a great experience so far,” said Simelton, discussing the show’s competition. “I will be competing against two wonderful ladies from Ohio and California to win the challenge. We want to lose the pounds, and regain our crowns.”
