Four children were hospitalized after a single-vehicle accident near Corinth this morning.

A 2-year-old girl was airlifted to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis with critical injuries, and a 12-year-old boy was taken to the same hospital by ambulance with serious injuries, according to Highway Patrol Trooper Ray Hall.

Two other children, one 13 years old and one 11 years old, were taken to the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth with moderate injuries.

Hall said the accident appears to have happened on Highway 45 around 8:20 a.m. when a tire blew out on the 2001 Ford Expedition driven by Jesus Najera, 36, of Pontotoc.

He said the wreck is still under investigation, but at this time there appears to be no driver negligence.
