Four Dennis TDs lead No.1 Lafayette squad to 23rd straight

Lafayette running back Demarkus Dennis scored four touchdowns Friday, one on a 33-yard run, to lead the state’s top-rated 4A team to a 42-0 home victory over Lewisburg.
The Commodores’ win came in the Division 2 opener for both teams. They have won 23 games in a row.
Dennis scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter to get Lafayette (7-0, 1-0) rolling. He added his 33-yard jaunt later in the quarter. He also scored on a 24-yarder in the second quarter and an 8-yarder in the third quarter.
Commodores quarterback Jeremy Liggins threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Colby Terrell and added a 1-yard TD run.
Lewisburg (5-2, 0-1) did not find the end zone.
