One adult and three minors were injured in a two-car accident in Prentiss County on Monday morning.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Ray Hall, troopers responded to a call at 7:20 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, on Highway 4 near County Road 5091, they found a 16-year-old driver had lost control of her 1978 Monte Carlo while traveling west.

The Monte Carlo collided head-on with a 2002 Buick Rendezvous driven by Patricia T. Yates, 69, of Booneville.

There were three passengers in Yates’ vehicle. Yates, 16-year-old and a 14-year-old were transported to Baptist Booneville with moderate injuries, while an 8-year-old was taken to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis with serious injuries.

The 14-year-old and 8-year-old were ejected from the vehicle during the crash, which troopers believe may have been caused by slick road conditions.

The driver of the Monte Carlo was not injured.

All of the teenagers and the child attend Prentiss County Schools.

The crash remains under investigation.
