Furniture store fills old Circuit City

TUPELO – A furniture store has opened inside the former Circuit City building in Tupelo.
The Furniture Center sells pieces for the living room, bedroom and dining room. It also sells mattresses.
Mark Faulkner owns the store, which has five employees.
The company has done liquidation sales in other areas, but the Tupelo store is intended to be a permanent location, said employee Harvey Shearer.
The store features upholstered products and mattresses that are made in Mississippi.
It’s open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The phone number is (662) 842-4555.
Jeff Snyder, general manager of The Mall at Barnes Crossing, said a furniture store will be a good fit for the shopping center, which is owned by the mall’s parent company, David Hocker amp& Associates.
“We had been looking for someone who did furniture because that seems to do really well over here,” he said.
He added the store’s neighbor, Old Navy, is doing a remodel and Rue 21 is planning an expansion.
“We’ve got a lot of things going on over there right now,” he said.
