TUPELO – Treating their customers the way they want to be treated is the cornerstone of the business success Woodstock Furniture Outlet of Acworth, Georgia, has experienced, said manager and buyer Todd Cronic.
The company was honored Thursday with the Tupelo Furniture Market National Buyer Appreciation Award.
“We’ve been coming to Tupelo Furniture Market for many years, and it’s the best in the country,” Cronic said. “I’ve seen it from the point of view of a buyer and a seller, and it’s the easiest to shop, the easiest to show at.”
The National Buyer Appreciation Award is presented to recognize retailers and buyers who have supported the Tupelo Furniture Market and the Mississippi furniture manufacturing industry.
Cronic said the company does a lot of business during the semiannual Tupelo Furniture Market, but also has frequent merchandise deliveries from the area.
“We have a couple of truckloads of furniture a week coming from Mississippi,” he said. “We find the products we need here.”
Woodstock Furniture Outlet was founded in 1988 in Woodstock, Georgia, by the Aaron family, occupying a 6,000-square-foot space that offered “great deals on odds and ends and scratch and dent furniture.”
Area growth and high demand helped the business burgeon into a “hometown furniture superstore,” relocating to a 95,000-square-foot building in Acworth, Georgia. Expansions in 2005 and 2011 brought a second retail outlet in Hiram, Georgia, and a new business venture – Woodstock Mattress Outlet – in Canton, Georgia.
Buyer Faye Smith, who has represented the company as the main buyer at the Tupelo Furniture Market for the past 10 years, is a big part of the company’s success, Cronic said.
“It’s been a great honor to come to Tupelo through the years,” Smith said. “I’ve seen the Tupelo market grow and change, and it’s a great market.”
