TUPELO – Police Capt. Allan Gilbert was named the city’s new Deputy Police Chief on Tuesday by Chief Bart Aguirre.

Gilbert currently serves at the advanced training coordinator for the Tupelo Police Department and Crime Stoppers coordinator for Northeast Mississippi and as a member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Gilbert has been a part of the department since 1994 when he joined as a patrol officer and was promoted to shift commander in 2005.

“Deputy Chief Gilbert brings a combination of training, experience and interagency connections as he joins Majors Hill and Clayton on my leadership team,” Aguirre said in Tuesday release. “He shares our vision for justice and unity within the department, throughout our diverse community and between the various law enforcement agencies we interact with on a daily basis.”
