JACKSON — The Mississippi Republican Party says at least two GOP presidential candidates plan to appear in the state before the March 13 primary.

Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania is scheduled to appear Wednesday at campaign rallies in Tupelo and in Jackson. On Sunday, he will appear at rallies in Meridian and Gulfport.

Former U.S. Rep. Newt Gingrich of Georgia is scheduled to appear Thursday in Jackson, Tupelo and Southaven. He’s also doing a $250-per-person fundraiser that day at a Jackson restaurant.

On March 12, Gingrich and Santorum are set to appear at the Gulf Coast Energy Summit in Biloxi.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will decide later whether to make appearances in Mississippi. That’s according to Austin Barbour of Jackson, one of his national finance chairmen.
