COLUMBUS – Police in Columbus say a 14-year-old girl has been arrested and a 12-year-old is being sought in connection with a weekend break-in that left another girl with a knife-wound to the hand.
Two girls broke into a Columbus house early Sunday and allegedly cut a 12-year-old girl’s hand with a knife after an argument about a boy.
Police Information Officer Terrie Songer says the juveniles, whose names are not being released, kicked in a flimsy door. The victim grabbed a knife, but the 14-year-old girl wrestled it away and cut the victim’s hand. The victim was also beaten, but did not require hospitalization.
Although the incident was initially reported as a home invasion, Songer said the suspects would only be charged with burglary.
