Girls Scouts donate cookies to troops

Girl Scouts Heart of the South offered customers an opportunity to donate cookies to military servicemen and women overseas during this year’s Girl Scout Cookie Sale and the public gave back, big.
The Troop to Troops Gift of Caring Program inspired many consumers to participate in the effort and on May 12th, Averitt Express picked up 9,216 boxes of cookies to be shipped overseas by Operation Troop Aid courtesy of the generosity of individuals from across west Tennessee, north Mississippi and east Arkansas.
Girl Scouts would like to thank everyone throughout the council area who supported this effort and sent a box of happiness to brave soldiers overseas.
Girl Scouts Heart of the South serves 59 counties in north Mississippi, west Tennessee and east Arkansas. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
Girl Scouts will be celebrating 100 years in 2012. If you would like to join, or reconnect for the celebration, visit online at www.girlscoutshs.org.
