ABERDEEN – Tupelo day care operator Floristine Gladney will be sentenced April 15 for her guilty plea to illegally using federal funds to pay her regular employees.
Gladney was indicted April 23 on nine counts that she converted AmeriCorps funds, intended to pay tutors of at-risk children, for her own use and that she falsified reports to receive those funds.
She pleaded guilty to one count on Oct. 20. If convicted of all the charges, she faced up to 55 years in prison and $2.25 million in fines.
Gladney, a former Tupelo School Board trustee, has been free on bond since her plea.
