EUPORA — A Eupora manufacturer says the loss of a military contract will lead to layoffs.
Officials with Ansell Hawkeye Inc. tell WTVA-TV in Tupelo that the layoffs will begin May 9.
The company, which employees 100 workers at the Webster County facility, says they expect to permanently layoff as many as 60 production workers.
Production includes combat gloves and utility work gloves.
Company officials say they have no plans to close the facility and hope the downturn in production is temporary.
Ansell Hawkeye’s headquarters is located in Eupora and it has a production facility in Waynesboro.
The Waynesboro plant will not be affected.
