“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly,” – John 10:10.
Everything that we have, we are, and we be comes from Jesus. John 1:1-3 says, Jesus was in the beginning the Word, He was with God, he was God, and He was life. Jesus is everything to us.
My mind goes back to the Israelites in the wilderness. God gave them manna from heaven; all they had to do was go out each morning and pick it up off the ground. Moses spoke to the rock and fresh water came forth. He gave them a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night to lead them. Their shoes and clothes did not wear out. They griped and complained and God even called them a stiff-necked people.
Only two people who were over twenty years when they entered the wilderness were permitted to go into the promised land. All of the older ones wasted away in the wilderness.
God is so blessing us now, but if we aren’t prepared, we will not enter our promised land either.
“I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide and I will fill it,” Psalm 81:10.
When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are no longer a sinner. We are delivered from our past life of sin, our spiritual Egypt, we can open our mouth wide and ask God to fill us,and increase us beyond measure, physically and spiritually. Jesus said according to our faith we would receive. Faith is a hard word to explain. It is unquestioning belief, total trust in God. You can’t see it. It is like holding on to nothing until it becomes something.
“Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart.” Psalm 24:3-4. Only the blood of Jesus can make us clean and new. Once we receive him as our Lord and Savior, we have to choose every day to stand against the forces of the enemy that try to hold us down. We have to be sure that what enters our heart and mind is pleasing to the Lord. We have to make wise choices each day so that we can partake of the blessings the Lord has in store for us.
“I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end,” Jeremiah 29:11. If we watch the news on television or go shopping, we may ask, how can we make ends meet and what is going to happen in the world?
But God is not limited by what we see in the natural. In the natural, we see ourselves just getting by; but God plans life in abundance for us. A minister asked me a while back, how I’m getting along since the cost of living has risen so much. I told him I haven’t missed anything. God always supplies our needs.
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you,” John 14:27. My peace and joy didn’t come from this world, it came from God Almighty. Nothing on earth can take away my peace and joy unless I permit it.
God is still on the throne. The economy in heaven is doing just fine. As long as we stay connected to Him everything is going to be all right.
