TUPELO – Education Task Force volunteers prepped 1,000 copies of the children’s classic “Good Night Moon” for distribution Friday as part of an effort to promote early literacy.
The books, which were purchased with a donation, are part of an effort to promote literacy and volunteerism with the city’s schools and children’s cultural activities, said task force chairwoman Shelia Nabors.
The largest portion of the books will be distributed to new parents through the Health Start Pregnancy Clinic, but will also be given to other organizations to help encourage parents to read to young children.
