JACKSON — Invitations say black tie and boots are optional for Phil Bryant inaugural ball.
Mississippi’s Republican governor-elect is well known around the Capitol for wearing cowboy boots with his business suits.
The 57-year-old Republican from Rankin County finishes one term as lieutenant governor on Jan. 5.
He’ll be sworn in as Mississippi’s 64th governor at noon Jan. 10 at the Capitol, and a parade is planned for downtown Jackson that afternoon.
Bryant’s inaugural ball begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Jackson Convention Complex, and tickets are $50 per person. The inaugural theme is “Rising Together.”
Bryant was elected Nov. 8. He succeeds Republican Haley Barbour, who couldn’t seek a third term as governor.
