JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Hinds County grand jury will be presented with charges against a former Jackson police in the death of his 1-year-old daughter.
Hinds County Judge Houston Patton set the case to the grand jury after a hearing Monday. Patton also denied bond to ex-Jackson Police Detective Natyyo Gray.
Gray is charged with capital murder in the death of Aubrey Zoe Brown on Nov. 20. Authorities say the girl’s mother had left her in Gray’s care. Gray’s attorney contends the officer called 911 and was trying to revive the child when the ambulance arrived.
Prosecutors say an autopsy showed Aubrey Brown’s death was caused by severe blunt force trauma.
Chancery court documents show Gray was the child’s father and had been ordered to pay child support.
