ABERDEEN — Federal court records say a woman is expected to plead guilty to DUI related to a car crash on the Natchez Trace Parkway near Tupelo.
Dana Whitt Smith is charged in federal court because the parkway is part of the National Park Service, which means it falls under federal jurisdiction. The 444-mile road meanders through parts of Mississippi and Tennessee, tracking a historic pathway was used by Native Americans and early settlers.
Smith was indicted Aug. 21 on one count of felony drunk driving. The indictment says she was intoxicated on April 9 when the crash injured a woman in another car.
She previously pleaded not guilty. A change of plea hearing is scheduled for Oct. 15 in U.S. District Court in Aberdeen.
