OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — A Lafayette County man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the 2010 beating death of another man.

The Oxford Eagle reports Adam Cory Ferguson pleaded guilty to manslaughter and burglary during the January court term of the Lafayette County Circuit Court. He was sentenced to 10 years for burglary and 20 years for manslaughter, with the sentences to run consecutively.

Prosecutors say Ferguson was one of four men who broke into the home of Derald “Pete” Connell and beat him to death.

Trials are pending for two others in the case.

Willie A. Canon pleaded guilty in January and was sentenced to life for murder and 25 years for burglary.
