OXFORD — Two men have pleaded guilty to murder charges in the 2010 beating death of 69-year-old Derald “Pete” Connell.
The Oxford Eagle reports Douglas W. Jones and Justin Eugene Montez were each sentenced this week to life in prison.
Jones and Montez, along with two other men, were originally charged with capital murder and burglary for breaking into Connell’s home and beating him. Connell died from massive blunt trauma.
Also charged with the murder were Willie A. Canon and Adam Cory Ferguson. They pleaded guilty earlier this year and were sentenced to life in prison.
Jones’ sister, Kasie Lynn Jones, was charged with accessory after the fact of murder and is still awaiting trial.
