GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — Gulfport police officers have arrested a 39-year-old Collins man and charged him with conspiracy to commit kidnapping and murder.

Police Chief Alan Weatherford says Daniel Magee is accused of planning to hire someone to kidnap and murder his former girlfriend.

Weatherford says Magee was arrested Monday night in Wiggins, where he was expecting to meet with someone who had his ex-girlfriend in the trunk of a car.

Weatherford says the investigation is ongoing.

Magee is held at the Harrison County jail on $150,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Gene Dedeaux.
