GUNSHOT VICTIM’S CONDITION UPGRADED
The condition of a Saltillo man who was shot in the back and side during a Thursday night altercation has been upgraded.
Jimmy Wardlow, 28, of Saltillo was in stable condition Friday in a private room at the North Mississippi Medical Center. Wardlow was shot with a .380-caliber handgun.
Bobby Young of Tupelo was arrested in connection with the shooting and charged with aggravated assault. Young was released from the Tupelo City Jail Friday under bond set at $25,000.
The incident occurred about 6:45 p.m. at Wardlow’s sister’s home, which is also the home of Young’s girlfriend. Witnesses said Wardlow and Young were in the house on Church Street arguing when Wardlow grabbed a knife. Young grabbed a gun and fired it twice. After the shooting, police said Young left the scene, but later returned.
