Guntown police get radar

GUNTOWN, Miss. (AP) — Two years after the 2010 federal census showed Guntown’s population was large enough to equip its police department with radar, officers are getting the equipment.

Police Chief Michael Hall tells WTVA radar was installed in the town’s prowl cars at the end of August.

Mississippi law allows for radar when a town’s population rises to 2,000. Guntown’s population is estimated at 2,084.

Hall says use of radar should be welcomed by local residents who have complained about speeding vehicles for years.
