TUPELO – Hail the size of golf balls peppered parts of Northeast Mississippi on Friday.
According the National Weather Service in Memphis, Prentiss County, Itawamba County and Tishomingo County received heavy hail from an afternoon storm system. Lee County also received slight pea-sized hail.
Even though the NWS said winds only got up to 25 degrees, trees and branches were reportedly blown down throughout the area.
Reports of that tornados touched down near Booneville, Saltillo and Mantachie were unsubstantiated.
Today’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high of 66 degrees and a nighttime low of 44 degrees.
