HATTIESBURG – A captain with the Hattiesburg Police Department is scheduled to enter a plea next week to an embezzlement charge.
The Hattiesburg American says Jamie Hooker was arrested Oct. 21 following an investigation into record keeping and handling of evidence within the police department. Authorities say the charge against Hooker is connected to a television set that had been seized by police.
Hooker had been charged with grand larceny. But a grand jury on March 21 returned an embezzlement charge following an investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and the state attorney general.
