Hawkins faces murder trial Monday in ’07 Fair slaying

ABERDEEN – Rita Fair’s accused murderer, Glen Wayne Hawkins, is scheduled to go on trial Monday.
After several delays, the trial is set in Monroe County Circuit Court.
Hawkins was 44 when he was charged with depraved heart murder in the Aug. 19, 2007, death of Fair at her 22010 Highway 45 North home in Aberdeen.
“Depraved heart murder is the commission of an act eminently dangerous to others although without premeditation to the effect of death,” said Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Brent Swan.
Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley said Fair was pronounced dead from blunt-force trauma.
