Hawkins’ trial for ’07 murder continued

ABERDEEN – The trial of Glen Wayne Hawkins, which was set to begin Feb. 16 in Monroe County Circuit Court, has been continued.
The case is scheduled to be on the docket during the next term of Monroe County Circuit Court.
Hawkins is charged with depraved heart murder in the Aug. 19, 2007, death of 44-year-old Rita Fair at her 22010 Highway 45 North home in Aberdeen.
According to Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley, Fair was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of her death was blunt force trauma.
Hawkins, a known acquaintance of Fair’s, was indicted by the Monroe County Grand Jury for his involvement with her death.
