HealthWorks! organizes a summer of fun

TUPELO – HealthWorks! is gearing up for summer fun.
The children’s health education center in Tupelo has a slate of wacky, happy summer day camps planned for June and July to keep minds engaged and young bodies active.
“We took some of the camps we had in the past; they are some of our very favorites,”said Donna Loden, Imaginator of Awesome Experiences, or program director. “We have some new ones, too.”
In every HealthWorks! camp, kids can expect to get up and moving, learn a little bit about health and nutrition and stretch their creativity with a craft. There’s camps for kids who can’t sit still, ones who like to dig in the dirt and those who want to get wet. There will be science that goes boom and creeps along. A week-long drama camp will pull together all facets of stage craft for a healthy performance.
“We literally try to run the gamut to reach every child,” Loden said.
This year, the HealthWorks! staff split camps by age group, allowing 5-year-olds to join the fun and older kids a chance to delve deeper. They also reduced the price of the camps by $5.
“We love it when the camps are just packed,” Loden said.
The older set will have the option to pair a morning camp and an afternoon camp. Kids will be able to bring a lunch from home or purchase a Yummy Yogurt lunch.
