TUPELO – Time flies when you’re having healthy fun.
HealthWorks! Children’s Health Education Center is celebrating four years Saturday, and the Northeast Mississippi community is invited to the party.
Families can enjoy the Funtastic Floor, an Inflatable Obstacle course and join in the Cha-Cha Slide, Silly Dance, toilet toss and four-quarter art project. Special events are planned for 11:04 a.m., 1:04 p.m. and 3:04 p.m., along with a “Tunes at Noon” singing contest.
In honor of its birthday, admission will be $4 a family, free to members, instead of the regular $5 for those over age 2, for the event which will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the center on the corner of Robert E. Lee and Industrial drives.
The goal is for children and adults to leave HealthWorks! happier and healthier.
“It’s not just about all the fun, it’s about the learning as well,” said Stacey Loden, the conductor of creative chaos.
A decade ago, the Health Foundation of North Mississippi spearheaded a regional effort to create a high-energy atmosphere that made a lasting impression on families.
“Now after four years, more than 100,000 have attended the center, and evaluation data is showing students are gaining health knowledge and applying it,” said Dean Hancock, president of the Health Care Foundation. “That’s real validation that HealthWorks! is delivering the promise.”
