Hearing for principal Burcham set for March 28

CORINTH – A hearing to determine the employment resolution for Alcorn Central Middle School principal Dan Burcham has been set for 4 p.m. March 28.
Alcorn County School District attorney Jimmy Price told the school board Tuesday during its monthly meeting that the hearing will be held in executive session with Judge John Ross Jr. presiding, unless Burcham requests an open session in writing.
Following the hearing Ross will submit a written recommendation to the school board, which the board may then act upon or reject, Price said.
Burcham was suspended with pay from his duties as principal on Feb. 11, while a complaint was being investigated, then was fired on Feb. 13, after the board rejected his resignation. However, since Burcham has requested a hearing, and in accordance with state law, he was reinstated to his position as principal until the hearing is held and the board takes action.
