Hearing rescheduled in Walls' loan case

ABERDEEN – New Circuit Court Judge Jonnie Walls Jr. of Greenville faced an arrest warrant Wednesday, for just a few minutes.
Walls, elected in November, represents himself in a student-loan repayment case filed by the U.S. attorney’s office.
He was scheduled to appear in Aberdeen before Magistrate Jerry A. Davis to explain why he has not made final payments on the loan.
Davis withdrew the arrest warrant, then rescheduled Walls’ hearing for Feb. 18.
The government, which filed its complaint against Walls and others in July 2006, tried to garnish Walls’ wages as a state senator but discovered they already were spoken for by others.
