HED: Murder-for-hire trial continued
PITTSBORO – The murder trial of a Vardaman woman accused of hiring a man to kill her husband has been continued until June.
Third Circuit Judge Kenneth Coleman on Thursday granted a continuance in the capital murder trial of Geraldine Alford of Vardaman.
She’s charged with capital murder in connection with the March 10 shooting death of her husband Tony Alford at their Vardaman home, said Calhoun County Sheriff Billy Mac Gore.
Geraldine Alford’s attorneys also had sought a change of venue for the trial, but Coleman did not grant that motion at the Thursday hearing.
John P. Vance, 34, of the Slate Springs community, also was charged with capital murder in the case, and Wendell Blunt, 46, of Calhoun City, was charged as an accessory after the fact.
