HED: Natchez Trace to offer evening program tonight
The Natchez Trace Parkway will offer the first in what is hoped will be a regular series of evening programs at the Visitor Center Auditorium at 7:30 tonight at the parkway headquarters near Tupelo.
The program will feature a 45-minute slide presentation on the National Park Service, including the Natchez Trace Parkway. Ranger Cheri Anderson said the presentation is new to the area and not simply a repeat of the show that runs daily at the visitors center.
The event is in conjunction with the third annual National Park Week April 22-28. The Visitor Center will open at 7 p.m. so guests can visit the bookstore and view a National Park Week exhibit.
“National Park Week gives us an opportunity to highlight the varied array of units in the National Park System and to highlight the history and features of the Natchez Trace Parkway,” said Dan Brown, parkway superintendent. “The program is the first evening program of many we hope to provide for the public.”
